CONFERENCES

InterVarsity holds various conferences and retreats throughout the year, providing students with opportunities to get away from the campus and experience Scripture, worship, training, and community building. Conferences are a great way to connect with other students on our campus and other campuses around the region or nation on a deeper level.

Encounter

Encounter is the Red River Region’s annual fall conference held over the course of a weekend which falls at the conclusion of each campus’ New Student Outreach period. Whether you’ve grown up with faith, still have lingering questions, or are exploring matters of faith for the first time, Encounter is for you. Through Encounter you can expect to experience God and Christian community through workshops, engaging speakers and times with your campus fellowship.

Rec Week

Rec Week is the Red River Region’s annual spring conference held over the course of two weeks beginning the Saturday immediately follow the conclusion of each campus’ spring semester. This conference is a training and vision week focused on Scriptures, leadership development, discipleship, and community-building.

Ethnic-Identity Conferences

We’re a multiethnic community, and we believe that our race and culture are an important part of how God made us. We have some different conferences for people to explore that within their own ethnic context.

Catalyst (Black Campus Ministries Conference)

Catalyst is the Red River Region’s annual Black Campus Ministries (BCM) student conference. It is the only conference designed to specifically serve Black students in our region. Students can expect to experience worship, messages and seminars all contextualized for them and grounded in Scripture with direct tangible application to students no matter where they are in their relationship with God or their ethnic-identity. Catalyst is open to anyone who wants to attend. The conference is designed to serve African-American, Afro-Caribbean, bi-racial, African students (Ghana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, etc.). We want to create an environment for students to come and be affirmed in their ethnic identity. Students of any ethnicity are welcome to join us.

International Student Ministries Retreat

Date: March 11 – 13, 2016
Location: Frontier Camp
Cost: $75 (includes lodging and meals)

The ISM retreat is the Red River Region’s annual International Student Ministries (ISM) retreat. All international students are invited to enjoy a fun and relaxing retreat at Frontier Camp, halfway between Houston and Dallas, and nestled in the East Texas Piney Woods. Join other international students studying in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas for a weekend of outdoor recreation, refreshing conversations, and learning about Jesus through a guest speaker and group discussions.
